I’m struggling to comprehend that as of today, we have been Nashville residents for one full year. It’s no secret that we’ve lived in a few different cities, and I get asked a lot how we like it here. Well, the answer is… we like it a LOT.
I am also celebrating my blogging birthday this week! So to commemorate our Nash-iversary and my blog-iversary, I thought it might be fun to write a long overdue Friday Five post and share just a few of the many reasons we enjoy living here, accompanied by a few of my favorite blog photos taken in the last 12 months…
We felt “at home” pretty quickly.
Though each place we’ve lived has had its charms and fair shares of amazing people… we have never been welcomed with open arms quite like when we moved to Nashville. It certainly helped that we had a few existing friends already here, but people in this town are so eager to learn more about what makes you tick, and support you in accomplishing your goals. For such a rapidly growing city, it still has a small town vibe that I love and find really comforting.
The music, duh.
I couldn’t talk about Music City without mentioning the sheer magnitude of music here. Finding a venue with live music takes all of two seconds – take a stroll down Broadway if you don’t believe me. I mean, our airport even has live performances happening all the time, which is pretty cool. Where we live is right up the hill from Ascend Amphitheater, which is one of my favorite venues in town. Last year during their summer concert series, we went to a few shows… and we have plans to go to even more this year.
The creative scene in Nashville is 100. Musicians, artists, photographers, writers, culinary wizards… they all thrive here and make this city beautiful and unique. In my day job and personal life, I have had the distinct pleasure of meeting so many people who use their respective, unique talents to make a living. Case in point: Lindsey (aka, Lucid Linds), who took quite a few of the photos you see here. She has been such an inspiration, so supportive of my goals, and an all-around great friend. If we hadn’t moved here, I likely would have never met her or the other amazing guys and gals who make up our little tribe of influencers. There are also a TON of amazing organizations all over town whose missions are to connect like-minded people – Creative Souls Tribe, UrbanGirl and The Nash Gals are just a few of my favorites. And again, going to back to reason #1 we love it here – everyone is so inclusive and supportive of each other. It’s contagious and I find that I draw so much inspiration not only for this blog, but for my everyday life too.
Food, glorious FOOD.
In terms of cuisine, Nashville has got it going ON. There are so many amazing spots here – we haven’t even scratched the surface! After living in Chicago for several years (and even Houston), we became accustomed to having a diverse, vibrant food scene at our fingertips… and I honestly don’t think we could ever live any other way. We love hitting up a lot of the trendy spots – and it seems like a new one opens every other week. But we are also huge fans of little hole-in-the-wall establishments. I’ll share more of our favorite Nashville spots in a blog post soon!
Nashville has been on the rise for quite some time now. But what has been truly amazing to me is how much change we have witnessed just in the one year that we’ve lived here. It’s cool to be part of something that’s growing so quickly – several large corporations are on their way to town within the next few months/years, so the city will only continue to flourish. I know drastic change comes with mixed opinions and/or emotions but personally, I cannot wait to see what’s in store for this city that has been so kind and welcoming to us.
That’s it for now! I’ll continue to post updates here and there, and will also be sharing more “about town” content – our favorite restaurants, sights to see, things to do, etc. So tell me… have you ever visited Music City? If so, what’s your favorite thing to do here? Let me know in the comments below and as always, thanks so much for reading!
