Canadian Tuxedo

Lately, I’ve been loving a good denim-on-denim look – otherwise known as the Canadian Tuxedo. Side story: when I started writing this post, I was curious about the origin of the phrase and found out that back in the ’50s, Bing Crosby was denied entry to a high-end Canadian hotel because he and his friend were dressed in all denim. He eventually got in (because he’s Bing Crosby), but word traveled to Levi Strauss & Co., who then created the most amazing, custom denim tuxedo jacket for him. The rest was history. And let us never forget Britney & Justin’s denim date in 2001. ICONIC.

But back to styling…

My favorite way to rock the CT is with my trusty chambray shirt tucked into a darker wash pair of high-waisted flares. I added a belt and for a pop of color – a cute little handkerchief that my sister got for me in Australia. Who says pocket squares are only for men? My exact shoes are sold out, but I found an extremely similar style here.

What are your thoughts on the Canadian Tuxedo? Have you ever/would you ever go for a denim-on-denim look? Let me know in the comments and as always, thanks so much for following along!
