Friday Five: National Wine Day!

Happy Friday, Friends!

The Gods of Silly Holidays have smiled upon us and aligned this first day of #MDW with National Wine Day. And while I’m still getting my bearings in this new city, I do have a few recommendations for places where you can sip on some vino and kick off this holiday weekend like the champion you are.

Let’s get to it, shall we?

City Winery

I first became acquainted with City Winery when we were living in Chicago. There are actually two locations there – one on Randolph Street (aka “Restaurant Row”), and another on the beautiful Chicago Riverwalk. It was hands down one of my favorite places to go to have a glass of wine, nibble on a flatbread (the wild mushroom is delish) and listen to live music. So as you can imagine, I was very excited to learn that Nashville is one of their locations too (they’re also in New York City, Chicago, Atlanta, Boston and Washington, D.C.). I do recommend making a reservation, especially on such an important day as this! 🙂

Frozé all day.

Pinewood Social

I love this spot. Good food, fun atmosphere, amazing patio area and bowling lanes… how could you go wrong? I am a huge fan of Pinewood Social’s Frozé, which is best enjoyed by the pool out back… which is exactly what I did today! A sweet friend from Clemson had just gotten into town for a bachelorette party so I had a chance to meet her and catch up! I also just learned that they are kicking off a summer movie series the last Tuesday of every month from May-September. They’ll be showing classics like Jaws and The Birdcage, and you can bet I’ll be there with wine in hand!

Belle Meade Winery

I haven’t had a chance to visit Belle Meade Plantation yet, but it is very high on my Nashville bucket list! My sister-in-law has done the wine tasting at Belle Meade Winery and said it was a ton of fun. Daily tours of the plantation come with a complimentary group wine tasting, or you can gather up some friends and book a private tasting here. When I finally make it over there, I think I’ll splurge on the Food & Wine Pairings option – offered daily and for only $35/person. There is also a retail shop on-site where you can purchase the wines and other gift items!

Salt & Vine

Salt & Vine is so stinkin’ cute! They offer lunch and dinner menus with lots of shareable options, plus a bottle shop featuring an impressive selection of wines. Salt & Vine also hosts wine tasting events regularly – I recommend signing up for their newsletter on the website to stay in the know about upcoming events. If you’re looking for more of a low-key way to celebrate National Wine Day, this might just be the perfect spot for you!

Woodland Wine Merchant

Maybe you’d rather enjoy a glass of vino from the comfort of your own home. Or, maybe you’re headed out to Memorial Day BBQs all weekend long and you’d like to bring a bottle or two along. Enter Woodland Wine Merchant. I had the pleasure of stopping by a few days ago and there was an amazing selection of wines at varying price ranges… so there’s definitely something for every taste and budget. They host fun tasting events (psst, there’s a Rosé All Day Event tomorrow!), and there’s also a “re-up” option where you can snag 6 bottles of wine for $60. Highly recommend dropping by if you’re in the Nashville area!

How are you celebrating National Wine Day? Or, if you’re not a wine person, what will you be sippin’ on this weekend? Whatever your plans, I hope everyone has a safe and happy Memorial Day Weekend!

Cheers (with a full glass of red),

E
