Life Updates + Exciting Things on the Horizon!

Hello Friends!

After an almost month-long hiatus I am back to blogging, and really excited about some fun new content coming your way soon. But before I dive into that, I wanted to fill you in on a few life updates that will hopefully help explain why I’ve been so MIA the last few weeks…

As you probably already knew, when we moved from Houston to Nashville we were set up with a temporary corporate apartment in The Gulch. We then had 3-ish weeks to sign a lease for an apartment of our choice. Not knowing the area very well, plus traveling home for Easter, and having Dan gone during the week for work made this trickier than we originally assumed it would be. We sort of got down to the wire with finding a spot, but we DID and we love it! We’re in a cute little condo on 2nd Avenue – for those of you who don’t know where that is, we’re about five city blocks from Broadway and just across the river from the Titans stadium. It’s an amazing location and the apartment was renovated within the last five years. It’s adorable and I’m excited to share some before and after photos with you very soon!

Surveying her new kingdom…

Sadly, a day after we signed the lease to our new place I received an early morning phone call from my mom informing that my Papaw (her dad) had passed away in the night. This was particularly devastating because he and my grandma (Mamaw) were like a second set of parents to my siblings and me when we were growing up. I have utter confidence in the fact that they helped shape all of us into the people we are today. The good news is that he lived to be 91 years old and had a full, happy and healthy life. He was married to my grandma for over 70 years (!!!) and was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. All of the services felt more like celebrations of his life and really, isn’t that what we should all hope for? I was fortunate enough to be able to take the week and spend it with family in South Carolina and North Carolina, where he was ultimately laid to rest in the most beautiful setting you could imagine.

It’s funny how timing works out sometimes. You can’t control it and it definitely puts things into perspective. I was so stressed about finding somewhere to live, finding a job and just getting the three of us settled into a brand new city. I feel like this was God’s way of telling me to just slow down, relax and let everything work out in good time.

Now that we are getting settled in our new home, we’ve had the opportunity to explore Nashville a little more and even make some sweet new friends. I have a lot of fun content planned for bushel+peck over the next few months, including some travel posts, seasonal styles, recipes, and products that I’m loving. I’ll also be kicking off a new weekly feature called Friday 5, where I’ll be sharing lists of my favorite brands, recipes, sales, general life hacks and much more.

Settling right in!

I’ve mentioned this before, but I want this blog to be a platform where we can all connect, support each other and share ideas, and I couldn’t do any of that without your continued support. Which brings me to my next and final point…

I wanted to say a quick THANK YOU to everyone who has texted, sent DMs or told me in person how much they’ve enjoyed bushel+peck and to keep the posts coming. I feel like it can be so easy to get sidetracked by life and sometimes I definitely stand in the way of my own goals. But, it’s really encouraging to have such an amazing support system out there to keep me focused and moving forward. So thank you, and stay tuned for more fun things very soon!

Cheers,

E
